Why are we letting tech get in the way of addressing existential issues?
Pain points for everyone...
For players
No signposting of the ecosystem of workshops.
Segregation of different workshops across multiple sites.
Confusion and expectation that the workshops are not owned by a single entity.
For facilitators
Overwhelmed by multiple unique pathways to organise and promote different workshops.
Lacking visibility of all their workshops offers.
For associations
Missing the resources to create platforms and ticketing.
Duplicating work by each creating systems and structures.
Associations want to focus on creating content and building communities, not managing digital systems.
It doesn't have to be this way...
Our objectives...
Identify digital pain points for players, facilitators, and associations that slow the global rollout of pedagogically innovative tools.
Collaborate with existing and emerging tools.
Advocate for the development of international digital tools/platforms, to better serve these stakeholders at a local and global level, favouring Open Source.
A modular and responsive approach...
We have a ladder of ambition and complexity.
We can't do it all. When we hit a complexity ceiling we will stop.
Increase visibility of workshops in the ecosystem
In collaboration with Trouver Une Fresque, we want players to be able to find all the workshops without searching multiple websites.
We want facilitators to have their public workshops filled with hordes of participants who are exploring the ecosystem.
This can be fulfilled at the lowest bar, through scraping, with the option to additionally submit events hosted externally.
Easy - Critical
Create workshop organising functionality
Enable a move away from bloated, profit-driven ticketing platforms.
Support facilitators to organise ticketing with the minimum of information needed to quickly set up an event.
This can be achieved simply when using free tickets.
Paid ticketing will be harder, due to multiple currencies and routing ticket revenues to the respective associations.
Medium - Important
Standardise and simplify workshop counters
Assocations have come up with different solutions to this issue.
For a young association, it can be a excessive technical burden or absent.
Many facilitators do not fill in their counter. We hope this will aid them to change their behaviour.
Hard - Important
Unify facilitator platforms and journeys under one roof
Imagine being able to have all of the workshops you can offer accessible to organise from a single place AND it is also your counter AND it recognises the steps of your facilitator journey.
What do you think about this?
Hard - Nice to have
Full white-labelled facilitator platforms for associations.
Well… That would make things easier for community management.
Extremely difficult - Important
Workshop badging for participants
Gamify the attendance of workshops! Can you collect them all?
This could be extended to add badges for belt levels, to encourage the journey to become a facilitator.
Extremely difficult - Nice to have
What would you add to the list?
What do you think of our ideas?
Considerations for us...
Preserve the diversity of the associations.
We don’t want to cause homogenisation. The workshops have different needs, characters and styles
We aim to have the tools accessible via API and white-label for hosting on the associations' native web pages.
Understand global nuances.
There are differing languages, currencies, access to resources, and cultural specificities.
